Hugh Scullion who also chairs the local branch of the party said: “From canvassing we have listened to people on the door step express their anger at local politicians who have implemented the austerity cuts that have resulted in longer hospital waiting times, thousands of redundancies, fewer teachers in our schools and fewer services delivered by fewer people.

“Meanwhile the parties in Stormont blame each other for the austerity cuts while within their own departments continue to implement them and collectively they willingly submit to the dictates from the Tory’s in Westminster.”

He added: “Indeed our Stormont stooges, led by Sinn Fein and the DUP, have gone further than the Tories have demanded. They have agreed to donate millions of our allocated budget to the rich Corporations and their share holders in the form of reduced Corporation Tax. That is a transfer of money from the poorest to the richest. Stormont party’s say they want to balance the economy and create more jobs in the private sector. How can sacking 20,000 public sector workers at the cost of £700 million increase jobs in the private sector?,” he added.
