X Factor Star Janet Devlin to judge Cookstown talent show

Be Your Own Star is the latest in local talent competitions to give young people from as young as eight a stage to gain experience of live performing whilst competing for a cash prize.

Be Your Own Star has been running successfully for some two months at The Greenvale Hotel in Cookstown. Each contestant faced an audition and if successful they progressed to the live heats where semi-finals followed. Judged by local professionals who are involved in national entertainment and arts creative industries it’s been a tough run as the level of talent has been expectionally high. Talent has ranged from small and large dance groups to singers and songwriters from all over N.Ireland.

As the competition gained momentum and publicity, Belfast’s Conor Scott who was seen on The Voice showed up as a surprise recently and was blown away by what he saw and gave his support to all involved.

Rumours have been circulating for a number of weeks among contestants as to who exactly the mystery X-Factor judge was going to be but Be Your Own Star organiser Mickey Devlin is delighted to confirm the appearance of Gortin’s Janet Devlin.

He said: “We’re delighted to have Janet come along to the final this Wednesday, it’s a great coup for us. She’s one of our own and because of that people can easily relate to her and she’s worked with some of the best in the business at such a young age.”
