YFCU hail Barbara on NYhonours award

The YFCU congratulates one of its board members Barbara Blair who was awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) in the Queen’s New Year Honours list.

Barbara, 30, was one of the youngest recipients of the awards in Northern Ireland receiving the BEM for services to young people in Northern Ireland in recognition of her work with the YFCU.

A member of the YFCU Executive Committee, Barbara is a member of Garvagh Young Farmers Club and served on the Board of Rural Youth Europe from 2009 to 2011 representing UK and Ireland.

Speaking on behalf of the association, chief executive Michael Reid said the award was richly deserved and reflected an 18 year commitment to the association by Barbara.

YFCU CEO Michael Reid said: “This is a very fitting tribute to Barbara who has served her club and county well over the years and also in her contributions as a board member for both the association and Rural Youth Europe.

“It is a great achievement and recognises the time and commitment she has given so far and also is a great affirmation of the work of YFCU in the local community,” he concluded.
