Yoda using up another life with cat-flap escape

CARRICK'S most adventurous iguana is on the loose once again.

Now the size of a small cat and putting the 'nine lives' theory to the test, Yoda has been missing in the Regent Avenue area of the town since 9 October.

The lime green family pet - with the tell-tale missing digit - was in the garage when he made good his escape.

Owner Shirleyann, who contacted the TIMES to appeal for help with his return, explained: "He's gone AWOL again and still hasn't turned up. We got a new cage for when he's outside but he started sticking his face through the wire and was hurting his nose. We gave him a wee section in the garage but he got out the cat-flap two weekend's ago."

The worried family, who have welcomed Yoda back on two previous occasions, are concerned at the timing of his absence.

Previously, his 'walkabouts' have been during spring/summer and while mild weather has been dominant during October, the autumn chill could be fatal for the cold-blooded creature.

Shirleyann has been in the fields behind her home searching for Yoda, who is named after a Star Wars movie character. She has also notified the vet, police and reptile shop. Neighbours are on the alert too.

"He's now a lot bigger, about the size of a small cat. He's very tame and if in the cold will be docile."

Anyone finding Yoda, who will be four this Christmas, is asked to contact 07858 521970.
