Along the way, has been joined by his two Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Fudge and Benji.

So far, the trio of intrepid travellers have completed the north east coast of England and the Scottish coastline. They will now take on the island of Ireland, before heading on to Wales and the south coast of England before finally looping back to Bridlington by the end of this year.

Outlining the reasons behind his incredible endeavour, Richard told the Times: “It is a massive challenge and I am hoping to raise a pound a mile in total to help make a difference to people in my local area suffering from these illnesses.

“Services aren’t that great in my area and there are so many things that can be done to make life for better for people. Please join us in making a difference. Thanks so far to those who have donated.”
