Yoshi’s feathers ruffled as Pegasus flies the coop

In a ‘tail’ straight out of a Greek myth, Pegasus has flown the coop.

But this Pegasus isn’t a winged horse - it’s a three-year-old Brahma rooster, who is a beloved pet of Rachel, Becky and Annabel Phillips, who live on the Hillhall Road, Lisburn.

And it’s not just Rachel, Becky and Annabel who are missing Pegasus.

His feathered friend Yoshi, a two-year-old Goose is desperately missing her winged companion - and just to add to the story - Yoshi the goose seems to think she’s a hen.

Pegasus’ owner Claire Phillips said that he was frightened by a dog and ran away. It has been over two weeks since Pegasus was seen.

However, his absence is causing distress for Yoshi, who was raised alongside Pegasus.

Claire explained: “One of my large Brahma rooster’s was spooked by a dog and ran away.

“He has been missing for over two weeks and we have a goose that has half imprinted on humans and half on chickens, as she was raised by both us and a hen.

“She tries to get into the house for company, she constantly calls and is suffering severe insecurity as she is a very social and needy bird.

“The other roosters reject her and even attack her, we can’t be with her all the time for company so we feel really this rooster named Pegasus is important for her welfare as due to imprinting she doesn’t respond to other geese for company only people or this white rooster.

“The areas he may have gone would be Braniel Road or possibly the Glen Road.

“Yoshi is very heartbroken so please if anyone has found him could they let us know.”
