Young Cookstown community volunteer laid to rest after sudden death

The Hub volunteer whose death left the Mid Ulster community in shock was laid to rest today.

Young Jonathan Ferry died suddenly on October 13.

His passing saddened people from across the district with many paying tribute to him online.

He was the beloved son of Betty and the late James, and devoted brother to James, John, Julie, Jacqueline, Jessica, Justin, Jeremy and Jennifer.

His funeral left from his late residence for Requiem Mass in St Mary’s Church in Dunamore with interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

A representative from The Hub paid a glowing tribute to the young man, which read: “It is with deep sadness that we have learned of the sudden death of one of our volunteers Jonathan Ferry.

“We will fondly remember Jonathan at his time at the Hub for always being kind, friendly, mannerly, enthusiastic and always willing to get involved and lend a hand. A quiet, modest fella, Jonathan would’ve been busy behind the scenes making sure all was set up ok for the traditional night and other events run by the Hub.

“He always had time for people and would often call in even on his days off to see how things were going.

“We would like to take this opportunity to extend our condolences and sympathy to Jonathan’s family, friends and those closest to him - you are all in our thoughts and prayers. You’ll be missed Jonathan, with love, from all at the Hub x”

Hundreds of people have paid tribute to Jonathan and paid condolences to his family online, one said: “May all his struggles be over now...and peace be his forever.... x”
