Young cyclists get on their bike for charity

Charlie and Adam are using pedal power to raise much needed funds for Habitat for Humanity build new homes in Zambia.

The boys will be part of a team travelling to Zambia with their school, Royal Belfast Academical Institution, and Habitat for Humanity in July.

The pair were waved off by Lisburn’s Mayor, Alderman Paul Porter, as they embarked on their 400 mile bike ride around Northern Ireland.

After meeting the boys Mr Porter said: “I would like to commend Charlie and Adam for undertaking this challenge on behalf of a very worthwhile charity. This Christian cross-community charity seeks to address the effects of violence and segregation by bringing together individuals from both sides of the community and the promotion of regeneration and reconciliation.

“Its work takes place across both Northern Ireland and the rest of the world as it aims to build communities and hope.”

Councillor Thomas Beckett, who was also present at the start of the cycle, added: “I would like to wish these two young boys every success in their cycle around Northern Ireland, visiting each county. It takes a lot of dedication and determination to undertake such a challenge, especially when still at school.

“I would like to encourage the people of Lisburn to support them as they raise funds for a very worthwhile cause.”
