Young entrepreneurs ready to enter the Dragons’ Den

FIVE local graduate entrepreneurs set to enter the Dragons’ Den next week when Lisburn Council hosts its own version of the popular TV show.

‘Fly or Die’ will give the five young entrepreneurs the chance to pitch their business idea to a panel of local business owners in a bid to win £1,000. It has been organised in conjunction with Global Entrepreneurship Week.

They will deliver their sales pitch to try to secure funding for their business after facing some tough questioning from the three local dragons about their business proposal. T

The ‘Fly or Die’ panel is made up of local successful business people who will judge the graduate entrepreneurs on originality, financial viability and entrepreneurial spirit.

The Chairman of the Council’s Economic Development Committee and guest dragon, Alderman Jim Dillon, said: “The current economic climate means self-employment is becoming a more viable and attractive proposition for local graduates; and in these challenging times for small businesses, our local graduates are leading the way and providing inspiration for all.

“New ideas, innovation and emerging trends are all providing graduates with ways in which they can drive their business forward. I am looking forward, along with my fellow dragons, to challenge the graduates on their business idea and recognising their efforts with the award of £1,000.”

The other panellists for the event are Philip Bain, Managing Director of ShredBank and recent winner of Young Business Person of the Year and Andrew Robinson, Managing Director of Boomer Industries, who is responsible for the management of a leading plastics extrusion company.
