Young entrepreneurs shine

Education charity Young Enterprise showcased its work with local young people at its annual Trade Fair event at Rushmere Shopping Centre with students from Lurgan making a big impression on the event.

St Marys Students started a total of seven companies with Young Enterprise with Hannah Farglen representing Lovebirds, Sian Heeney representing Lovely Little Things and Orla Cassidy representing Stitch Up The Style.

The students from St Paul’s Junior High, Lurgan Junior High and St Mary’s High School have been working with the charity to develop business ideas into fully functioning companies and seized the opportunity to trade at Rushmere.

The nine young businesses sold a variety of products to customers including homewares, handmade crafts and sweet treats.

Rushmere Shopping Centre Manager, Martin Walsh, said: “We’re thrilled to be part of what this important initiative which is designed to support our young entrepreneurs in gaining valuable, real-life experience and understanding of how business works in a highly-competitive retail environment.

“Northern Ireland is brimming with young, entrepreneurial talent and it’s vital that we provide them with an outlet to showcase what they have to offer and to assist them in building up their knowledge and know-how to succeed.”
