Young Farmers are top talkers

MEMBERS of Coleraine Young Farmers Club have excelled at the Area Public Speaking competition at Magherafelt High School.

A group of 13 memberws took part.

Results: 12-14 2nd Maxine Smyth; 16-18 2nd Racheal Lamont; 16-18 impromptu 1st Racheal Lamont; 18-21 2nd Mark Blair; Impromptu 1st Mark Blair, 2nd Ryan Adams; 21-25 1st Kathryn Smyth; Impromptu 2nd Danielle Black.

At the Public Specking finals on November 7 the Coleraine members gained three places: 12-14 2nd Maxine Smyth;18-21 2nd Mark Blair; and 21-25 3rd Kathryn Smyth.

Coleraine YFC also sent 12 teams to Area Public Debating competition in Magherafelt High School.

Coleraine achieved six out of 10 possible places - an excellent achievement.

Results: 12-14 1st Maxine Smyth, Paul Adams and Scott Kennedy; 14-16 2nd Ryan Leighton, Ethan Simpson And Stewart Reid; 18-21 1st Claire Adams, Ryan Adams and Sam Rennie, 2nd Callum Lamont, Mark Blair and Robert Fulton; 21-25 1st Danielle Black, Chantelle Murdock and Hillary Cameron, 2nd Neil Henry, Russell Smyth and Kathryn Smyth.

In the finals Coleraine earned two places: 12-14 Maxine Smyth, Paul Adams and Scott Kennedy 1st place; 21-25 Kathryn Smyth, Russell Smyth and Neil Henry 2nd place.

The club would like to thank Mae Cameron, Kaye Henry and Valerie Cochrane for their hard work in preparing the members for both competitions.
