Her funeral took place at St Patrick’s and St Brigid’s Church on Monday afternoon.

The social networking site, Facebook, was awash with comments from dozens of friends - all of whom have paid warm tributes to her.

One comment read: “My heart aches for all family and friends of the beautiful Ita Ní Bhroin. Words are impossible to find at a time like this but I’m praying for you all, that God would wrap his arms tightly around you all bringing comfort and strength and may your bond of love hold one another up through this tragic time.”

Another person wrote: “The right words are not possible to sum up the thoughts and feelings that all of us have woken up today and yesterday with. I have been reading everyone’s comments and you all have summed her up perfectly. I just wish she knew how much she was a part of everyone’s life. She gave so many of us a little piece of her and so many amazing, happy, fun memories with her. I love you and miss you Daisy.”

Others have expressed their disbelief at the news saying they can’t take in that their friend has gone and that she will be sorely missed.

“Ita had a special place in our hearts and we shall hold on to our memories and special times we shared.”

“Beautiful girl, always had a smile.” “Stunning girl.” “God bless” ”One less angel on earth,” were more comments that flooded on to the Facebook site.

Ballycastle councillor Seamus Blaney described the loss as tragic and said his sympathies went out to the family and family circle at this sad time.
