Young man fined for shouting obscenities at the police

A YOUNG Craigavon man who shouted obscenities at police was fined £100 last Thursday at the local court for disorderly behaviour.

Christopher Patrick John Gibson (21), of Westacres, Craigavon, admitted the offence which happened on June 3 this year.

A public prosecutor said that about 12 midnight police saw a youth causing a disturbance at Craigavon Leisure Centre.

The defendant was shouting obscenities at the police and was warned. When other youths began to leave the area Gibson shouted again.

He was cautioned for disorderly behaviour but walked away saying he would not pay the fine but go to Maghaberry because he did not acknowledge a British court.

Mr Conor Downey, representing the defendant, said Gibson’s family were disgusted with the comments he had made.

Imposing the fine District Judge, Mr Alan White, said Gibson’s remarks were ‘distasteful’.
