Youngsters arrested over Cookstown ‘burglaries’ released pending further enquiries

The two juveniles arrested in relation to a number of ‘burglaries’ in Cookstown this week have been released on bail.

They were questioned by police in relation to a number of offences, including one burglary, two attempted burglaries, possession of a Class C drug and criminal damage.

Arrested on Tuesday, the youngsters have now been released by the PSNI pending further enquiries.

Police received a report of an attempted burglary in Lommond Heights in the early hours of Tuesday morning, while a house in Coolnafranky Park was burgled on Monday night.

A third home in the Westbury Drive area had also been targeted late on Monday.

Detective Inspector Will Tate said: “Two juveniles were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, including criminal damage, attempted burglary, burglary and possession of suspected Class C drugs.

“There was a report of an attempted to burglary in the Lommond Heights area in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday, Nov 24).

“At around 11.30pm on Monday night (Nov 23), it was reported that a house in the Coolnafranky Park area had been burgled. Meanwhile, shortly before 10pm on Monday night (November 23rd), it was reported that there had been an attempted burglary in the Westbury Drive area.
