Youngsters urged to hit Larne’s ‘messy sheep trail’

New community church leaders Philip and Annemarie Cole have hidden nine knitted sheep around the town and are giving prizes to youngsters who manage to track them down.

All youngsters have to do is pop into the Salvation Army shop on Dunluce Street and pick up a leaflet giving clues to the hidden sheep. Once the locations of all the sheep are written down, the leaflet is returned to the shop.

The treasure-hunt style game has been given the name messy sheep to tie-in with the charity’s messy church, which is designed to bring God into young people’s lives in a fun way.

Lieutenant Annemarie hopes the messy sheep trail will capture children’s imagination and get them even more excited in the run up to Christmas.

She said: “We’re excited about Christmas and wanted to share that with the local children here. This is our first Christmas as the officers in Larne so we felt it was important to make it special for the community.

“The messy sheep trail runs until, Friday December 18 and then we have our community carol service at our church on Point Street on Saturday December 19.”
