Your chance to plant a tree in the Faughan Valley

Would-be tree planters will receive a wealth of information later this month, courtesy of a special free woodland creation demonstration.

The offer comes from the Faughan Valley Landscape Partnership Scheme. Thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, this massive project aims to restore and enhance the natural and built heritage within the beautiful Faughan Valley. Delivered by partners Derry City Council, the Rural Area Partnership in Derry (RAPID) and the Woodland Trust, one of the aims is to facilitate the creation of new native woodland. Join the team for an indoors welcome on Wednesday 13 November at 2.00pm at the RAPID premises, located at the Old School, 2 Foreglen Road, Killaloo. A bus will transport the group to a nearby private landowner’s site.

Here forester Tony Johnston will demonstrate various tree planting techniques. Each participant will have the chance to plant a tree.
