Your ideas to bring shoppers to town

WITH the public realm works, footpath extensions, tree planting and regeneration of Lurgan in the offing the 'MAIL' was out on the street getting public opinion.

We asked how would you attract more shoppers to the town.

Husband and wife Keith and Pam Smith said: "The derelict buildings need cleaned up and painted, and there isn't enough free car parking, an hour is just not long enough to park and do your shopping.

"More decent clothes shops, and a toy shop, and another supermarket that would be competition for Tesco."

Germaine McKerr and Mary McGeown said: "More shops, and clothes shops and competition for Tesco, if you had relatives visiting where would you bring them, there is only the park. "

Robert Hunter who shops in the town regularly told the MAIL: "Open up the derelict shops, I would like to see Asda coming to the town, as it would be healthy competition for Tesco."

Lurgan College student Hannah Robinson said: "Better shops, the only good one is DV8, so more clothes shops would be good, I'm a big fan of Top Shop but there isn't anything like that here, we have to go to the shopping centre."

Thomas Mulholland said: "I would like to see some big stores coming like Debenhams or Next, and they could make the town more pedestrianised and get rid of all the traffic through the town."

Camera shy Sarah McCrory and her partner said: "Lurgan needs more clothes shops, and a good baby shop and it could do with being a bit tidier looking."

Two ladies having a chat said: " More shops, decent ones and a variety, not hairdressers, Lurgan has enough, and sort out the parking."

Hiding from the camera Gillian said: "If there were decent shops, there are only bakeries in this town, I'm into clothes so a good clothes shop would be good for me."

Catherine said: "Open good shops, there are no good shops, nothing only traffic if they would redirect that."
