I think anything done to improve the town is very much welcome. Including the work going on. Now all we need is ignorant taxi drivers out and new businesses in!

The Lurgan Public Realm Works I would say will have short term pain but will be worth it in the long run. The state and width of the pavements before were in very poor state and actually unsafe in places especially for people with young children in prams and those older or needing good wheelchair access. William street pedestrian area could also do with an improved resurfacing work.

If Martians arrived in Lurgan and were presented with a questionnaire on what would get the town back on its feet do you think they would say (a) shops (b) cinema (c) footpaths? Given that anyone who lives in the town knows the answer only too well, what does it say that our public representatives chose footpaths? Next time there is an election we should all bear this in mind. It is frightening to think people got paid for making this decision! Isabel Horan

A self-employed taxi driver who is a depended on pick ups in town who is now unemployed a bicycle cant even get up the town.

Lurgan's biggest asset is its wide street. To encourage shopping here - we want more parking spaces. The present works have taken parking spaces away. Where will all the buses go now! More seating just allows seats for the drinkers. Bring back our wide street to help park and use our shops and bring some business life back to our town.

And on other matters...

Well done to Cllr Weir and his party. DUP making sure that Craigavon Council is good value for money! Jony, Mourneview
