One of Lisburn’s main shopping areas has gone on the market, with hopes that the new owner will be able to inject some life into the city centre.

Lisburn Square, which is home to Argos, Next and the Tuesday Bell, is up for sale with an asking price of £2,250,000.

Developed by urban regeneration specialists, Cusp, Lisburn Square, which cost £23 million to build, opened in 2001. It provides 24,000 sq. ft of retail, commercial and residential space, including 30 retail outlets, 45 apartments, office space and 210 underground car parking spaces.

Lagan Valley MP Jeffrey Donaldson said he hoped the new owners would bring new shops and jobs to the city centre.

“Now that Lisburn Square is on the market, this presents a very real opportunity for significant investment in our city centre and will form an important part of our plan to regenerate Lisburn,” said Mr Donaldson.

“We will work closely with whoever is the new owner to ensure the Square is returned to its former glory and new business attracted to make it a real hub for shoppers in the heart of the city.”
