Youth Day Services at Donemana Presbyterian Church

Youth Day in Donemana Presbyterian Church was held on Sunday, June 9.

Both the morning and evening service had the theme of ‘Celebrate, Jesus Christ is Lord’. The church was beautifully decorated with toys. Mrs Audrey Chambers was the speaker at both services.

Young people from the Sunday School read portions of the story of the Prodigal Son at both services. Mrs Audrey Chambers used Powerpoint to tell the children the story of The Prodigal Son, to which they listened intently. Audrey brought props such as sandals and a robe to help her with her story and she completed the story of The Prodigal Son at the evening service.

At the end of the evening service Mrs Jean Rutherford congratulated the young people on how well they had done. She thanked the Sunday School teachers for their hard work throughout the year and the parents for their support. Mrs Audrey Chambers, the visiting speaker then presented the prizes. All members of the Sunday School received a prize and there were a number of special prizes.

Special prizes were awarded to Jennie Campbell in the primary age group who received the Annie Colhoun Memorial prize. Zara Rankin-Glenn won the William Sayers Memorial trophy in the junior age group, while Andrew Hume received the Rev Jack Forbes Memorial trophy in the senior age group. Gemma Watt and Joshua Faulkner from the Bible class were the recipients of the Rev J. McGregor Memorial shield.

Both services were brought to a close with the benediction. Beginners, both morning and evening, gave out sweets to members of the congregation as they left each service.
