Police stepped up patrols in the town following the altercations to prevent further trouble. They will also be examining CCTV to identify offenders.

Police have appealed to local people to exert a positive influence and to stop young people from getting involved in confrontations.

The spokesperson added: “It is no coincidence that this trouble comes during half term. If you go to Glengormley and participate in anti-social behaviour you will be arrested.”
