Yule not believe it...

IT MAY only be the end of September, but there's already a festive feel in Coleraine.

For last week, Coleraine Borough Council workers began preparing the town for the festive season despite it being over 80 days to Christmas Day.

A spokesperson for Council explained: "The annual Christmas switch ons are planned for the end of November in the six towns in the borough.

"However, the erection of the lights is carried out by two members of Council's maintenance team.

"This team is also heavily involved with various events on the North Coast during the summer months.

"When the summer events season comes to a close, they begin to prepare for the coming programme of events, in this case it is Halloween and Christmas."

The spokesperson said it was 'practical' to undertake the work when the weather is good and they are not hampered by adverse weather conditions.
