Zumba event to raise money

A local Zumba group is planning to hold a Zumbathon fitness session in aid of the Breast Cancer Charity Pretty n Pink.

Moira-based Zumba instructor Sonia Wilson, together with her regular class, has organised a Zumbathon on Saturday 24 October in Moira Primary School with the help of Northern Irish charity Pretty n Pink in order to raise money for those families in the province who find themselves affected by breast cancer.

Pretty n Pink, founded in 2006 by Noleen Adair, is the only registered Breast Cancer charity in Northern Ireland.

It is run by a very small team of people and local volunteers from across the province.

All the funds raised go directly back to Breast Cancer patients and their families in Northern Ireland.

Sonia, who runs the Moira class, said: “The Moira group have supported charity fundraising in the past and as October is Breast Cancer Awareness month we knew it would be a great appeal to support.

“I asked my class attendees if they wanted to get involved and they readily agreed.”

The Zumbathon will be held in Moira Primary School on Saturday 24 October from 2pm to 4pm.

The class is open to everyone and a pink dress code is strongly encouraged and advised.

An entrance donation of £5 is suggested.

For those who may be a little shy about showing off their moves the group will also hold a raffle and have been amazed at the generosity of prizes donated by local businesses.

Up for grabs are vouchers for various hairdressers, beauticians, cafes, shops, restaurants, photographic and fitness studios, plus a chance to win a signed Ulster Rugby ball and shirt.

There will also be a bra bank available on the day if anyone wants to make a deposit.

The group look forward to welcoming you on the day.
