Foot of water in Waterfoot

SINN Féin Glens councillor Noreen McAllister has asked Moyle District Council to resolve the issue of flooding at the back lane of Main Street Waterfoot after the residents raised their concerns with her.

Councillor Mc Allister said: “I have been contacted by a number of residents that live in Main Street Waterfoot and owners of property there, about the terrible state of this lane. I went to visit them and could not believe what I saw.

“On Wednesday evening I met with some of the residents and luckily enough I had a pair of boots on because if I didn’t my feet would have been soaked.

“There was a drop of rain fall on Wednesday 3rd October 2012 and we had a shower of hailstones and because of this the back lane was badly flooded again, I dread to think what the damage will be to residents properties and their vehicles when the heavy rainfall and frost that we all expect to receive, come winter time.”

Councillor Mc Allister added: “After my visit I contacted Technical Services Dept immediately and included the photographs I had taken, and asked them to look at this problem and give it their immediate attention and thankfully I have been told since then that they will visit the area.

“I hope this problem can be fixed immediately so as the residents don’t have this constant worry of damage to their homes and properties and they do not have to park their vehicles on the Main Street as there is a serious ongoing issue there already with on street parking.”
