The former Larne Grammar pupil, who hails from Ballyclare, was shortlisted alongside fellow East Antrim riders Alastair Seeley and Glenn Irwin for the main award, but really it was between himself and Michael Dunlop as to who would lift the coveted Joey Dunlop Trophy. When the winner was announced, it was Dunlop who topped the poll with Rea second and Seeley third.

Rea, who has joined Kawasaki for 2015, was named as the Black Horse Short Circuit rider of the Year while Seeley, who switched to Tyco BMW for the forthcoming season, was named as Black Horse Best Rider on UK and Ireland Circuits.
