Harriers produce fine displays at Portaferry 10k

Weather conditions on the evening were warm but a coastal mist helped to keep runners a little bit cooler.

On a hilly course, two CAH members had excellent runs over the 10-mile route with Naomi Lusty crossing the line in her first race over this distance, just a second ahead of Lisa Barrett in respective times of 83:09 and 83:10.

In the relay event CAH had five two-person teams competing. First home was the team of Glenn Smart and Erin Montgomery (77:14), followed by Louise Smart and Claire Oliphant (78:30); Carol Annesley and Samantha Laming (85:47); Diane McCartney and Katherine McAllister (96:51) and Eileen Stewart and Marion Morrow (100:53). Special congratulations go to Louise and Claire for coming second in the Female Relay category!

Only two members of the club tackled the newly-named 5-mile Milk Run in Ballymoney, held on the hottest night of the year so far.

Irene Downey won her age category in a time of 40:55, with Diane McCartney delighted with her time 50:28.

Club members were also out at local parkruns with Lyn Hardie, Claire Oliphant and Naomi Lusty all recording personal bests.
