Try it yourself ... Sticky partysausages

THIS week’s recipe from Arlene Thompson of Sainsbury’s Try Team is perfect for a family meal or party, especially over the Halloween holidays.

36 Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference cocktail sausages

4 tablespoons tomato ketchup

2 tablespoons brown sauce

2 teaspoons Sainsbury’s fairtrade dark soft brown sugar

1 rounded teaspoon Dijon mustard

2 teaspoons dark soy sauce

2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1. Place the tomato ketchup with the brown sauce, sugar, mustard, soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce into a small bowl and mix together to make the glaze.

2. Heat one tablespoon of oil in a large non stick pan and cook the sausages for 10-15 minutes over a medium heat. Brush the sausages periodically with the glaze and keep turning to avoid sticking. Check that sausages are cooked thoroughly and no pink colour remains before serving.

Smashing bangers

Try frying some Hulls pork sausages in a little oil with wedges of Cox’s apples with apple skin kept on, a sprinkle of sugar and fresh whole or chopped sage leaves. Season well and serve.

Cook’s tips: These sausages are great for parties and are also delicious served in a roll as a hot dog or with creamy mashed potato or a bed of couscous.
