McDermott wins at Faughan Valley

FAUGHAN Valley Golf Centre held an Open Stableford competition last weekend, which was sponsored by the Drumond Hotel, with a good turn out both days.

On Saturday, like the Ryder Cup, most thought that the competition was already won with Ian Dunn carding a score of 42 points, but with 14 handicapper Cathal McDermott having his best round of the season scoring 43 points, took first spot relegating 23 handicapper into second spot.

Third spot was decided on a break of tie between Andrew Totton (22) and Gerry Irwin (14) both carding 41 points and with Andrew having the superior back nine he took third spot.
