Improved effort from Fourths just isn’t enough this time

DROMORE Fourths played host to Parkview Seconds at the 4pm slot at Ferris Park.

The Dromore team had a good mix of youth and experience and started the match in attacking form. Emma Johnston and Megan McClean worked well together in the middle of the pitch to make some strong attacks on the Parkview circle but were unable to capitalise on any opportunities.

Parkview soon settled into the game and in the latter section of the first half attacked the Dromore circle relentlessly.

The young defenders Ellen Wright, Hayley McQuaid and Layla Joy showed great composure remaining calm and controlled allowing the score to remain 0-0 at half time.

The secong half began with some high paced hockey right from the outset, but it was Parkview who capitalised first.

A long ball sent across the goal mouth was ably saved by keeper Hannah Ruddock but the Parkview wing was quick to pick up the reboung and put thefirst goal on the score sheet.

Parkview kept the pressure on the Dromore defence eventually winning a short corner. To Parkview’s delight the ball ended up in the back of the net but their delight turned to dismay when the goal was disallowed.

Dromore fought back with some great play with the youthful Andrea Wilson playing great at right midfield, tackling strong and sending balls to the forwards.

Unfortunately the Parkview defenders proved too strong for the Dromore forwards and managed to field off any attempts made on their goal.

As fulltime approached and it looked like the score would remain 1-0 Parkview made one last attcking move down the left wing catching the Dromore defence off-guard, the resulting goal let the score 2-0 to the visitors at full-time.

Overall though this was a much improved effort from the Dromore girls and as the team begins to gel it is expected in the coming weeks the wins will begin to appear.
