Villa Club derby encounter ends in stalemate

All that looked to be forgotten history here though as the Villa fought back from 2-1 down to lead 4-2 in their search for a long awaited victory over their club rivals but it wasn’t to be and it was the Northern Ireland Team Manager Davy Glenn who started the Swifts revival followed by Martin Barr to earn the Swifts a point here.

Sperrin Flights were again on superb form as they came away with a 6-2 victory in a hard fought match against a very capable Social Club with no less than nine recorded legs of 20 darts or less as well as two 100+ checkouts in this match.

Once again the Thatch showed that they are not back just to make up the numbers as they swept aside Railway Arms with an easy 7-1 win recording over thirty scores of 100+, more than any other team this week.

Scotch House got their first win of the season against Kellys Inn who are still in search of their first win of the season.

Berthas meanwhile took advantage of the Villa stalemate with a convincing 7-1 victory over Cooleys to move into third place.

There was sad news this week for the local darting community with the passing of Jane Elder, Jane had been involved with ladies darts in Coleraine for many years and even when Ladies darts was struggling in Coleraine she continued to run ladies teams in the former Thursday Night Vinters League as well trying to revive the Ladies Darts in the newly formed Thursday Night League.

Jane will always be remembered for the banter and fun she brought to a darts match as well the fundraising she done for both darts and for charity she was a true gem in ladies darts and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. The League wish to pass on their condolences to Roy and the entire family circle at this sad time.

Following this sad news Floyds B’s match against Floyds A was called off out of respect for Jane.

There were a number of excellent individual performances this week once again but the Star Player this week goes to Davy Glenn (Villa Swifts) with legs in 16 and 18 darts as well as seven scores of 100+. Not far behind him was Davy O’Hara (Thatch) with legs in 17 & 20 darts and James Walker (Sperrin Flights) who had legs in 18 & 19 darts. Other top performances this week came from Alan McVicker (Social Club) with legs in 18 & 20 darts while Alan Boyd finished his game with legs in 19 & 20 darts.

Highest Checkout this week was 125 (25, T20, D20) hit by Gary Watton (Sperrin Flights) who also had this weeks best individual leg with an excellent 15 darter while team-mate Barry McLaughlin checked out on 109. There were just the two 180s recorded this week by Danny O’Neill (Thatch) and Martin Barr (Villa Swifts).
