Police confirm sudden death of man on Portadown railway line

Police have confirmed they are investigating the sudden death of a man on the railway line between Portadown and Lisburn on Saturday (April 29).

A Translink spokesperson added: "We can confirm a tragic incident occurred on the railway line between Lurgan and Moira on Saturday afternoon. Our thoughts are with everyone affected.

"Emergency services were called to the scene and an investigation is underway.”

The rail line was closed following the tragedy, but has since re-opened as has the Drumbane Road in Moira which was closed with Colane Road and the junction with Station Road.

Train services running through the stations had been suspended following the incident, with bus substitutions in place between Lisburn and Portadown for local services and from Lanyon Place for Enterprise services.

There are no further details at this stage.
