70 week ban for Attoub

DAVID Attoub has been banned for 70 weeks for gouging Maghaberry man Stephen Ferris during the Heineken Cup game against Ulster on December 12.

The 28-year-old Stade Francais prop received the lengthy ban after being found guilty last week of making contact with the eye area of Ulster flanker Stephen Ferris.

Stade president Max Guazzini says Attoub will appeal against the ban.

The suspension is one of the longest in European rugby history for gouging.

Attoub's team-mate Julien Dupuy is serving a 23-week suspension for another gouging offence in the same match - also against Ferris.
