A challenge for the firsts

THIS season's revamped league structure will see Lurgan square up against three senior league teams.

Lurgan had been part of Qualifying Division Three, which has now been split into two sections - A and B.

This split sees Lurgan grouped with Londonderry YM, PSNI, Cavan, Monaghan, Letterkenny, Civil Service, Strabane and Ards.

Section B is made up of Larne, Randalstown, Virginia, Holywood, Ballyshannon, Newry, Ophir and Donegal Town.

Each team will play each other twice under the new format.

At the end of the season the winners of section A and B will play off to see which side moves up to Qualifying Two.

The other teams that finish in the top four positions in each section will form Qualifying Three in 2011/2012 along with the relegated side from Qualifying Two. The other nine teams will form Qualifying Four.

This year's Qualifying League will run in conjunction with the new Conference League which will see Lurgan face three senior side - Queens Seconds, Instonians Seconds and Rainey Seconds.

The Gordon West has been changed slightly so that each team plays each other only once in the group stages rather than twice as had been the format in recent years. Lurgan's Gordon West opponents are PSNI, Holywood and Civil Service.

In Junior League Section Five, Lurgan Seconds will face Carrickfergus Thirds, CIYMS Thirds, Dungannon Fourths, Enniskillen Thirds, Grovesnor Thirds, Holywood Seconds, Monaghan Seconds, Newry Seconds, Ophir Seconds and Randalstown Seconds.
