A fair result on the day

Moyle FC 2 V 2 Bushmills FC

THIS was a typical end of season match with the only query at the end being the score – was it 1-1 or 2-2?

Moyle started brightly enough and Sol Fox saw an early shot hit the bar and Eddie McCloskey had a shot saved. The rest of the first half was riddled with poor passing or poor control of the ball from both teams and it was 0-0 at half time.

Both sides upped the game in the second half and Darren McKillop, who was head and shoulders above the rest of the team today, fired a shot from 30 yards which beat the Bushmills keeper with less than two minutes gone.

The lead lasted four minutes as Bushmills fired up a ball from a free in their own half and Adrian Thompson was unmarked and headed the ball into the Moyle net.

In the eight minute Moyle kicked the ball out of play to allow treatment to a Bushmills player. The ball was thrown back and Aaron McCaw struck the ball over Donal McCloy in net after warning him that he was going for the net. Bushmills then sportingly allowed Eddie McCloskey to run from the centre and put the ball into the net to make it 2-2.

Bushmills should have been ahead in the 57th minute but for a last gasp tackle from Stephen McAfee who prevented a certain goal. Donal McCloy then pulled off a great save a minute later.

Moyle had a couple of half chances but nothing that close and the game ended all square.
