A must win as Blues seek first victory

Quinn says he’s confident that his side can kick on once they get their illusive first victory and they’ll be looking to pick it up sooner rather than later before they become cut off at the foot of the Carling Premiership.

Glenavon are currently just two points behind Lisburn Distillery and three behind Dungannon and Coleraine. If they can soon turn around their fortunes, it won’t be long before they shoot up the league table.

However, starting things off on Saturday will be easier said than done against a plucky Donegal Celtic side who have already beaten Portadown, Glentoran and Crusaders so far this season.

At Mourneview Park, Glenavon will still be expected to win and Quinn says that with pressure mounting, his side must get all three points.

“It’s another must win game,” he told the ‘MAIL.’

“The pressure within mounts by the day but I can cope with it. I’m not one bit happy with our results and it’s up to me to rectify that. If I feel I can’t do it, I’ll have to look at myself. At the moment I feel that I am the man to rectify it but time will tell.

“Donegal Celtic are dogged and hard to beat at the best of times so we’ll have to be at our best. Hopefully the home crowd will get behind us and lead us to victory.

“We’ve introduced a lot of new players and things haven’t worked out up to now but we’re playing well. The camaraderie, team spirit and confidence is there, all we need is a win.

“We need to stick the ball in the net. We need to pull the trigger more often and shoot rather than taking extra passes on. We need to have a pop at it.

“I’m quite sure that it won’t be long before we get that win and once we get it, I’m quite sure that we can start picking up points. The first one’s the hardest one to get.

“The boys’ attitudes are 100%, I couldn’t ask for anything more. Maybe one or two of them could step it up a bit on the pitch and I know they’re better than they’ve shown.”
