A round-up of the latest news from Ballela as U8s take part in blitz

U8 Hurling

The U8 team went to a blitz on Saturday in Ballycran and played their best hurling off the season so far.

They played four games and didn’t lose, conceding only one goal.

Firstly they played Carryduff B and won 5 - 0 with goals from Sean McClure (3) and Tara McAnarney (2).

Cormac McNally in goals and Conor Magee and Caimhan McAnarney had little to do in defence.

Oran McAnarney went close to scoring.

The second game was against Ballycran B and again won this game by a score of 8-0 with goals from Sean McClure (3), Eamon McGreevy, Cormac McNally (2) and Tara McAnarney (2).

Stephen Gillen and Cathal McCrory went close a couple off times also.

The third game was against Bredagh B and finished 1-1.

Eamon McGreevy got the Ballela goal early on and Conor Magee and Cathal McCrory went close to scoring.

Bredagh got a free with last play off the game and scored to draw level.

The last game was against Portaferry B and Ballela won 2-0 with goals from Sean McClure and Caimhan McAnarney.

Conor Magee, Stephen Gillen and Cathal McCrory made some great clearances as Portaferry tried to score.

U12 Hurling Team

The U12s beat Warrenpoint at home on Thursday night. They played the first half with a strong breeze and at half time were leading 2.03 to 0.00.

In the second half scores were harder to come by and only scored two points with Warrenpoint scoring late on.

The final score was Ballela 2.05 Warrenpoint 0.01.

Ronan McCrory (0.04), Cathal McClure (1.01) and Orla McCusker (1.00) were the scorers.

This Thursday night the U12s are at home to Ballycran.

Senior Hurling

The senior hurlers defeated Ballyvarley in the derby game last Monday night 3-19 to 2-13.

Next up is a trip away to Newry Shamrocks this Monday evening and they are on the road once again the following week to Ballygalget.

Senior Camogie

The senior camogie team had no game on Monday night.

Their next two fixtures are home to Darragh Cross and away to Ballygalget.

Whist Drive

There will be a whist drive in the old school this Sunday evening.

Ballela Tractor Run

Ballela Modern & Vintage Tractor Run will take place this Sunday 23 June 2013 at 12 noon.

The tractor run costs £10 and starts at 2pm with registration beginning at 12 noon. Entry fee includes refreshments.
