A tough encounter against cup holders

IT does not get any easier for Lurgan as they struggle at the bottom of the Premier League.

Desperate for points now they face another difficult enounter this Saturday when they travel to new cup holders North Down.

“It is a tough one,” said captain Peter Maxwell. “Even though they are the only team we have taking points from this season.”

He had no complaints about last week’s results against Instonians.

“There were a number of games this year we could have won with the rub of the green but last week we were outplayed,” he added,

“Their openers batted extremely well and took the game away from us. We didn’t bowl well.”

A familiar face returned to the Lurgan team last week in former international Charlie McCrum.

“At the start of the year he was keen to come back but was on shift work and said he would look at it again after he came back from holiday,” said Peter. “He said he would play and it’s good to have him back.”

Francois Viljoen is not available this week and his place is taken by Graeme Hunter.
