It’s tough enough having to travel but even harder considering the Fermanagh team had beaten the Academy Medallion by 15 points earlier in the season.

This time, it was a tight and exciting affair with a first half penalty apiece being the only scores in a 3-3 draw.

Jack Carson kicked the Academy points.

The replay was then scheduled for the following Tuesday and while this began in a similarly tight fashion, the Academy eventually proved superior with first half tries from Robbie Mathers and Jordan Poots giving them a 10-0 halftime lead.

The second half saw Andrew Denver and Adam Hanna crash over, Carson converted Denver’s attempt, to put the Academy out to an unassailable 22-0 lead.

A late converted try from Portora gave them some comfort for what was a brave performance but the Academy were victorious and marched on to an away tie against Coleraine Grammar School in the third round.

The Coleraine game was scheduled for Saturday 31st January but will now be played on Tuesday 2nd February at 3pm.
