Academy Seconds chase cup glory too

IT'S not just Ballymena Academy's First XV who have the scent of glory in their nostrils.

While the exploits of John Andrews' side in getting to the Schools' Cup final have been well publicised, the Galgorm Road school's Second XV are also in the latter stages of their own competition and this Friday, March 19, they play against Armagh Royal School at the Ballymena Academy ground with a 3pm kick off.

This match has special significance for the academy team because these two sides met at the same stage of the competition last year and the Armagh boys won. This will give the Academy boys a chance of revenge and an appearance in the final at Ravenhill.

This Academy side is a very young team and this bodes well for the senior side next season since there are at least seven of the team return to school next year.
