Academy Seconds lose to Campbell

Banbridge Academy 2nd XI played Campbell 1st XI in their second match of their McCullough Cup group. Having taken away key points from their loss to MCB. Campbell would be the first true test of the teams ability so far.

The game started off strong with a goal from Campbell responded to quickly by a great drag flick from Dylan Cowan. The 2nd XI looked promising with great play around the back four. Campbell caught off guard by the passing focused play of Dave Agnew’s squad. Banbridge showed great resolve by playing on after conceding to Campbell to make the score 3-1 by half time. Dave Agnew’s inspiring words led to a spur of energy from the team. However the half court approach from Campbell was hard to break down and their counter attacks proved too much to cope with. The final score 5-1 to Campbell College.

U15’s continue fine form

Banbridge Academy U15’s continued their undefeated start to the season with an impressive 2-1 against Belfast rivals Campbell College, a team they had only beaten on strokes previously.

It was a very tense and tight first half with Banbridge dominating the possession but Campbell looking dangerous on the counter attack. The first goal went Campbell’s way, it stayed this way until halftime. The Banbridge boys didn’t let their head drops and in the second half they were on the offensive from the first whistle. It paid off when 10 minutes into the half Mark Barlow slipped the ball through the goalkeepers legs to equal the score at 1-1. Joel Reid won a short corner with some good skill. With Callum Gibson absent, Charlie Norris took the role of striking from the short corner and did not disappoint with a thunderous shot catching the keeper out at the near post. The final five minutes was an impressive show of passing from Bann who closed out the game to claim their eighth win of the season.
