Academy Under 15s dominate to take a superb win

The game started with the Academy keeping possession around the back three of Callum Gibson, Kelvin Nash and Jack Montgomery.

A great ball down the line from Montgomery set Mark McCullough on his way who cleverly pulled the ball back to Jay Brackenbury who opened the scoring.

The second goal was similar although this time McCullough needed no help and slotted past the keeper at his near post.

Jay Brackenbury got his second when the ball bounced back off the post and he was left with the simple task of finishing from close range.

Bann got one more before half time when McCullough passed to Joel Reid in the area and he slotted past the keeper.

In the second half the U15’s concentrated on the quick passing hockey and they scored through a good Phillip Campbell finish.

The 6th goal came from a back post tap in from Isaac Black.

The seventh goal was a well worked goal starting from the back with Charlie Norris, Joel Reid and Mark McCullough passed it around the Klikeel defence and Norris found Phillip Campbell who finished first time.

Callum Gibson finished the scoring after he rebounded off the keepers pads. A good game as Bann continue to make good strides in their cup preparations.

The U15 side continued their great start to the season with an impressive 1-0 win against a strong Cookstown team.

The game started with Banbridge displaying good three touch passing and moving and not letting Cookstown get a touch of the ball the possession ended with Mark McCullough driving into the area and putting his shot just wide.

Cookstown’s best form of attack was coming from their centre back who caught the Banbridge team out with an aerial on several occasions.

Chances were going to both sides and Cookstown almost took the lead from a good reverse strike but it was well saved by Luke Roleston.

After the half Banbridge started quick and Jay Brackenbury gave them a lead with a good close range finish.

Banbridge continued to create opportunities and they almost doubled their lead with Charlie Norris striking a reverse that brought out a great save from the Cookstown keeper.

Kelvin Nash almost scored a drag flick on two occasions but once again the keeper came out on top on both occasions.

Cookstown didn’t have many opportunities in the second half as Banbridge were stretching the defence well with good quick ball movement and kept creating chances through the front three of Mark McCullough, Jay Brackenbury and Patrick McNiff.

No more goals were scored in the game due to good performances from both keepers.

A very good result against the reigning Ferris cup champions from last season.
