Action hots up for Portstewart Ladies

ON March 23, 20 members from Portstewart Ladies played in a 16-hole competition, which was won by Heather Rainey (24) with 26 points over Pauline Agnew (23) with 26 points

The monthly medal on March 10 was played, again over 16 holes, with 35 ladies participating. This was won by Inge Rowan (22/20) with a 63 nett over Mo Giffin (20/18) also 63 nett.

The first 18-hole competition was held on St Patrick’s Day and was in aid of Macmillan Cancer Research. Forty-nine ladies took part. Pat McMinn (33) was the winner with 39 points with Brenda Strain (13) second on 35 points. Liz Cooley and Noleen Donnelly were the only “2’s” winners on that day.

On March 24 the Alliance competition was played on the Strand Course while 13 ladies played for a voucher on the Riverside. This was won by Marion Hamilton (33) with 43 points and the runner-up was Deirdre Stewart (33) with 41 points.

The Peggy Nelson Trophy which was to be played on March 31 had to be rescheduled due to the inclement weather.

The time sheet for the first open of the season, Aveline England Memorial Trophy, on March 12th is already available in the ladies locker room. 18-hole competitions continue as usual from April 7 onwards.
