Adair new Rangers boss

The Villagers’ former vice captain has been appointed with the aim of getting silverwear into the trophy cabinet as the club reaches its 50th anniversary in two years time.

Rathfriland FC Chairman, Junior Murray, welcomed Adair’s appointment and said that the club’s attentions had now turned to the future.

“We were delighted to secure his services and those of our new assistant boss, Errol Curran, who was formerly with Banbridge Town,” said Mr Murray.

“Brian has had plenty of success as a player, winning numerous cups and league titles over the year and now we are hoping that this will filter through to our own playing staff next season.

“We’ve set targets for the next two years as to where we want the club to be. In two years time we will be celebrating a landmark birthday so to have a cup on the table would be a great achievement.”

Mr Murray revealed that Adair beat off a high calibre of applicants to get the top job.

“The job had been advertised since last January and since then we had a number of applications for the job. I have to say that we were pleasently surprised at the quality of people who were interested,” he said.

“It was a very difficult decision but Brian just had the edge, not only in his CV but also in the interview he gave us.

“Everyone at the club wishes Brian and Errol all the best for the forthcoming season and hopefully he will lead us to great things.”
