Alan's team into third round

BANBRIDGE won their second round match in the Ulster Cup against Gracehill quite comfortably.

Alan Dale captains this team and he seems to have come up with a very talented squad of players.

The won the home leg 6-1 so they travelled to the Gracehill club near Ballymoney full of confidence.

Peter Hillen and Cathal O’Neill lost the opening two games and, for a moment, there was a touch of nervousness in the Banbridge camp.

But there was no need to worry because along came Philip McCourt and Ronnie Halliday with two impressive wins. That was it all over and Neville Kerr, Jim Gracey and Jim Matthews were called in.

It all gets very serious from now on in. The Ulster Cup is one of the premier competitions in Ulster golf and it is very difficult to win. But when you reach the third round, you cannot help thinking that you have a chance.

Alan Dale’s team will now meet Ardglass in round three and that should be interesting, to say the least.
