All to play for until end of the season

ON the crest of wave after their excellent win over The Hills Waringstown can look forward to some exciting cricket from now until the end of the season.

They have a Irish Senior Cup semi-final at home to Merrion on August 7 and the title race now looks like a two horse affair between themselves and North Down.

“We had a great day down there at The Hills,” said skipper Jonathan Bushe. “They were probably the favourites so it was a very good win, an all round team performance.

“Winning the next day against Ballymena made it a great weekend for us and the game against Merrion is one to look forward to.”

First they have to concentrate on the league with CSNI visiting The Lawn this Saturday with a 12 noon start.

They were due to play CIYMS this week but the Belfast side have postponed the game because they play North Down in the Challenge Cup final on Friday.

With Waringstown having lost two and North Down losing one and drawing one there’s very little between the sides at the top of the table.

“While you cannot discount Lisburn it’s very hard to look past North Down and we have always said whoever finishes above them will win it,” added Jonathan.

The big crunch could come on August 15 when the two sides meet at The Lawn in what will be a 20 overs a side encounter.

Once again the villagers have no selection problems for this week.

“It’s quite difficult to pick a team,” added Jonathan. “For example young Josh Hall, a 15-year-old, came in last week and did well.”
