Allister takes Jubilee Trophy at Castlerock

THE Jubilee Trophy winner at Castlerock Golf Club was Allister Somers and it was a hard fought battle, not only on the course but in the clubhouse where calculators had to be employed to separate the top three.

Allister (13) came out on top, along with Keith Robinson, also 13, and Gary Stewart, all on 42 points and a countback down to the last three had to be employed to move Keith into runner-up spot.

Twenty handicapper Gary Stewart topped the high section and Adrian Creighton scored 40 points from his eleven handicap to win the low section.

The ubiquitous Michael O’Donovan posted 38 points off his handicap of 3 to win the best gross with a 35. Peter Craddock took the seniors prize with his 37 points from his 28 handicap.

* The May Open Seniors event over the Mussenden course at Castlerock saw 14 handicapper Christopher Devlin score 40 points to claim victory via his better back nine from local golfer Ronnie Nevin (16).

Evergreen Ken Dallas scored 39 points from his mark of 12 the get third spot. Another 39 was scored by Roe Park’s Malcolm Stuart (15) to take his prize as best visitor.
