Amanda and Marie reach Ladies singles final

Amanda Carser and Marie Corey will meet in the ladies singles final after winning through to the decider at Lisnagarvey High School on Tuesday night.

Amanda, from Hillsborough Social, beat Teresa Cushnahan, Rock before beating Ruth Neely, Eglantine. Ruth won the quarter final against Madeline McMullan, Annahilt Parish. Aghagallon’s Marie Corey beat Karen Ellison, St Mark’s, before beating Winnie Irwin, Sloan Street. Winnie had beaten Suzanne Cushnahan, Rock, in the quarter final. Jean and Karen Ellison, St Mark’s will meet Winnie and Thelma Irwin, Sloan Street in the ladies pairs final. On the way to the final the Ellisons beat Agnes Liggett and Ruth Neely, Eglantine and then Elizabeth Mawhinney and Patricia Halliday, Annahilt Parish, who had won against Sylvia Cairnduff and Amanda Carser. The Irwins beat Sylvia and Teresa Cushnahan, Rock, following victory over Genny Little and Geraldine Tallon, Aghagallon and the Cushnahans had earlier beaten Mary McQuillan and Muriel McLernon.
