Amateurs U11s push Camlough all the way

Dromore Ams U11s 1

Camlough U11s 2

Dromore Amateurs Under 11s resumed their league programme with a 2-1 defeat to Camlough Under 11s in an excellent game at Havelock Park.

Camlough had most of the play in the first half but found the Dromore defence of Dawson Patterson, Alex Scott, Bailey Wilson and Ryan Hamilton hard to break down with keeper Matthew Stewart dealing confidently with anything that got through. Dromore were dangerous on the break with the midfield of Neil Hawthorne, Jack Dumigan and Ryan Mulgrew and striker Cameron Long creating three great chances. The Camlough keeper twice blocked shots from Dumigan and Long who shot narrowly past the far post.

Camlough got off to a great start in the second half with a shot high into the net following a scramble in the Dromore goalmouth. The Dromore keeper kept them in the game with three superb saves in a man of the match display.

Dromore brought on their subs Laura Gallagher, Daniel Smyth, Andy McCune, Matthew McKinstry and Stuart Whiltshire but midway through the half, Camlough made it 2-0. Dromore never gave up though and Laura raced clear and beat the keeper but her shot slipped past the far post. Dromore kept attacking and with 10 minutes left a Camlough defender under pressure fired into his own net. Dromore pushed everyone forward and forced a number of corners but could not get an equaliser.

This week Dromore Under 11s face a tough task in the first round of the NIBFA Cup when they travel to Jordanstown to play Greenisland Under 11s.
