Anderson and McArdle named in Down squad

FORMER Banbridge Town midfielder Kevin Anderson has been named in Down's McKenna Cup squad for the campaign ahead.

Anderson, whose GAA club is Aghaderg, left the Town recently to concentrate on Gaelic football. Also in the squad is Annaclone’s Brendan McArdle.

Down fans will relish the chance to see Martin Clarke back in action for the Mourne County. Martin will surely enjoy playing alongside brother John and team mates, Brendan Mc Veigh, and James Colgan.

Dan Gordan is the most noticeable absentee from the squad but is expected to return to the set up shortly after the McKenna Cup.

Down travel to Celtic Park in their opening match to match a strong Derry side on Sunday (2pm start) and then play host to Queen’s and Antrim respectively in subsequent weeks. It promises to be an interesting campaign.
