Andrew set to represent Ireland at European Championships

Ireland will play host to the 2013 World Drug Free Powerlifting Federation (WDFPF) European Championships 2013 on April 27th and 28th.

The championships, which are being hosted by the Irish Drug Free Powerlifting Association (IDFPA) will take place in the Iontas Centre in Castleblayney County Monaghan.

The competition will see some of the strongest men and women in Europe coming to Ireland to battle for the European crown. All support for the Irish team will be very welcome.

Coleraine’s Andrew Richardson will be making his International debut after a very successful year so far. Andrew has already broken a number of national records in the 90kg Teenage division.

“Were delighted to have the opportunity to host such a prestigious competition and we would encourage as many people to come down and support as possible”, said Tom Coyle president of the IDFPA.

The championships is also part of the Gathering 2013 and is sponsored by IPB Insurance.

“The Irish team is looking very strong after the nationals last month we’ll be expecting a big performance in our own back yard”, said Peter Lucey of the CIT Powerlifting club.

Admission is free and the doors shall open at 9am on both days.

If you would like more information on the competition or the sport of powerlifting you can visit the IDFPA website www.idfpa.net or you can also find the IDFPA on Facebook and Twitter.
